iPhone 4.3.2 Mac Jailbreak

Apple has released iOS 4.3.2 for the iPhone 4 and Verizon iPhone (iPhone 4.2.7) and the good news is that it has already been jailbroken. However, it is tethered jailbreak for now. This mean that your iPhone will boot into jailbroken state everytime you do a soft reset or reboot. Okay, here are the step by step instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 4.3.2 using PwnageTool.

iPhone 4.3.2 Mac Jailbreak

UPDATE – If you have an unlocked iPhone, we have untethered iPhone 4.3.2 Jailbreak instructions up which works for Macs as well.

First, you will have to download pwnagetool bundle from the link given at the bottom of the post on your Mac computer. Extract it. You will find a “iPhone3,1_4.3.2_8H7.bundle”. Move it to desktop.

Download the pwnagetool 4.3 from the link given at the bottom of the post and copy it to the ‘/Applications directory. Then, right click on it and select “show package contents” from the pop-up menu.

Then, fire up finder and navigate to “Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/” and paste the “iPhone3,1_4.3.2_8H7.bundle” I mentioned in the previous step. Now, we are going to make a Ramdisk for the iOS 4.3.2. To do that, we will need to install “Universal Ramdisk maker” (again, link given below). Install it and run it.

Then download the 4.3.2 for the iPhone and move it to your desktop. Fire up the pwnagetool and start it in expert mode. Select the iPhone from the three images being shown in the window.

Browse for the iPhone 4.3.2 firmware and select “build”. This will create custom pre-jailbroken firmware for your iPhone. An IPSW file will be prepared.

Now, we will need the iPhone enter DFU mode.

* Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
* Now release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 more seconds
* You iPhone should now be in DFU mode

Start iTunes and select iPhone from the sidebar. Hold CMD key and click on Restore button. Browse for the custom firmware that you created in the previous step. This will flash the firmware to your iPhone.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier in this iPhone jailbreak guide, it is a tethered jailbreak. So to boot it, we will have to use Tetherboot. Download tetheredboot for iphone and extract it.

Now, we need two files for custom 4.3.2 IPSW firmware. These files are kernelcache.release.n90 and iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu. So, we will make a copy of the custom IPSW file we created earlier and change its extension from IPSW to .zip. Extract this file then. Copy kernelcache.release.n90 and iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu files under /Firmware/dfu/ . Move all of these files along with the tetheredboot utility to a new folder called “tetheredboot” on the desktop.

Turn off the iPhone and start the terminal app on your Mac. Type these commands:

sudo -s

Enter your password. Enter these (replace “matt” by your username) and press enter.

/Users/matt/Downloads/tetheredboot/tetheredboot
/Users/matt/Downloads/tetheredboot/iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu
/Users/matt/Downloads/tetheredboot/kernelcache.release.n90

You will asked to enter DFU mode. For this:

* Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
* Now release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 more seconds
* You iPhone should now be in DFU mode

Wait for your iPhone to boot. Terminal will now showing Exiting libpois0n. After sometime, your iPhone will boot in to jailbreak state.
